Subaru-Gary Fisher Team caps fantastic year

With 2009, officially in the records books, it is now time for the “Best of” segments.And this past week it was CyclingNews with their annual reader poll.

As if two national championships, an un-official (single speed) worlds title and a host of podiums this past season, weren’t enough, Heather Irmiger was the top vote winner in the “Best Female Mountain Biker” category. She edged out two World Champions who occupied second and third in fan voting.

Congratulations Heather, another #1 for the trophy display.

She was also joined on the list at number six, by team mate Willow Koerber. Willow and Heather were the only American on the list and only two of four cross-country athletes receiving votes.

In a similar survey for the “Best Male Mountain Biker”, Heather’s husband and team mate Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski finished sixth. JHK was the only American
to place top-10 in the poll.

These individual accolades come on the heals of the team being named North America’s top mountain bike team in a separate announcement.
