Trek and Fisher Rule SSWC09
24/09/2009
The Singlespeed World Champsionship were held last weekend in Durango, Colorado, and Trek and Fisher took home one tattoo each.
A non-UCI sanctioned event, the SSWC is known just as much for it's off bike activities as it's racing. Competitors often race in fancy dress and the winner receives a tattoo, rather than a rainbow jersey.
This year the mens winner was none other than 'Rad' Ross Schnell, ex-Trek-VW rider and now a member of the Trek Racing Co-Op. While Ross has been focusing this year on Super-D and Enduro DH events, racing on a Remedy or a Session, for the SSWC he built up a Trek Top Fuel with a derailleur acting as a chain tensioner and used it to smash the opposition. Nice one Ross!
And in the womens race, US National XC and Marathon Champion and Subaru-Gary Fisher team member, Heather Irmiger emerged victorious on board her Fisher SuperFly SS. Check Heather out in the photo getting her winners tattoo! This tops off a fantastic year for Heather who was riding a 29r for a full season for the first time.
