New Custom Painted bikes for Lance and Alberto
10/03/2009
Astana Team riders Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong have both got some new custom painted Trek Madone's.
Firstly, Alberto Contador has received a new Madone to use for the Paris-Nice race this week. Thanks to Trek's Project One department, it features a striking Black and White paint job, with a one-off white seat mast, a very bold Trek logo, and a small touch of colour on the seat tube and fork. The colour feature sports three stripes to represent the three Grand Tours that Alberto has won over the last 2 years: Yellow for the Tour de France, Pink for the Giro d' Italia and Gold for the Vuelta Espana. Understated and cool. As leaked by Ben Coates.
Next up is Lance Armstrong. As part of his initiative this year to raise awareness of the Livestrong Foundation and the ongoing battle against cancer, Lance is commissioning several unique paint jobs for his bikes from famous artists. He recently attended a charity ride in Los Angeles and had a Madone specially painted for the occaision by San Francisco-based artist Barry McGee (aka: Twist). Check the unique spec too! You can read all about the inspiration for the paint job here. Unique and a nice juxtaposition.
After the cruise of the charity ride, Lance will soon be back into racing. And for that he needs a bike up to the job. This next Madone is the same spec as the one he rode at the Tour Down Under and the Tour of California, but this time the eye-catching paint job is from graphic artist Kaws. Read the full story here. Expect to see Lance riding this bike at the Milan-San Remo. Meaningful and eye-catching.
